What to Do This Lunar Eclipse?
This guidance was inspired by requests from our followers and draws from multiple traditions alongside astrological analysis rather than any single lineage. It is intended for a wide audience and as general guidance. More advanced practitioners may wish to take advantage of this time in other ways.
The upcoming eclipse activates the Virgo–Pisces axis, highlighting the tension between practicality and intuition. Virgo calls attention to organisation, work, and well-being, bringing refinement and healthier habits. Pisces encourages surrender, sensitivity, and spiritual awareness. Together, they ask us to recalibrate how we balance structure with our emotional truths.
With Saturn and Neptune now in Aries, we are moving out of the Piscean era and into a more action-oriented phase. A time that favours initiative and personal responsibility. Around the world History shall once more be created but this actionable energy is active in the personal sphere too. Make the most out of it that you can.
Eclipses intensify emotions and can bring sudden realisations or reactive impulses, especially if other planetary influences are active in our charts. Because this eclipse occurs under a full moon, its energy is more illuminating and productive than if it were a new moon, however, it may still feel overwhelming, both collectively and personally. We’re reaping what was sewn in the Piscean era and finally breaking out of old orders. This can feel dangerous and scary. Don’t worry, Saturn is in a good place to make this productive for us personally and for society.
This is a time for conscious personal action. Notice what surfaces, but avoid making immediate decisions on the day of the eclipse or just after, when emotions are heightened. Reflect carefully and respond deliberately.
Virgo refines; Pisces releases. You are being called to realign and move forward with clarity.
Beyond the immediate astrological implications of the eclipse, the number 333 carries symbolic weight due to the timing of the event. In the Thelemic system of Aleister Crowley, Choronzon, a figure first recorded in the workings of John Dee, is associated with this number.
Choronzon represents dispersion, illusion, and the chaotic fragmentation of the ego. He is encountered symbolically in the Abyss, the metaphysical gulf between the individual self and higher spiritual realisation. Rather than a “devil” in a moral sense, Choronzon embodies the false self: compulsive thought, rationalisation, fear, pride, and the restless mental chatter that prevents integration.
To cross the Abyss is to withstand and transcend this dissolving force, moving toward unity beyond ego and illusion.
This theme aligns naturally with a full moon Virgo eclipse opposite the Sun in Pisces; an axis that highlights the tension between discernment and emotion. The moment calls for refinement and conscious integration.
A Mercurial Rite for the Virgo Current
Preparation
Clean your home space and arrange your altar appropriately if you already have one, if not create an altar space. Alternatively you may utilise a quiet clearing in the woods or a spacious garden where you will be undisturbed. Bring biodegradable offerings only if working outdoors.
Decorate your space with blue and silver accents and leave fresh flowers on the altar. Burn a blend of lavender and frankincense (avoid burning toxic substances outdoors; keep it safe and respectful of nature).
If desired, play instrumental music in E minor to set the tone.
Opening the Space
Sit in stillness. Breathe deeply and centre yourself.
Acknowledge that Virgo is ruled by Mercury, and state your intention to invoke Mercurial clarity, refinement, communication, and intelligent action.
You may speak:
“I call upon the Mercurial current,
spirit of intellect.
Illuminate my mind, refine my path,
align my actions with clear purpose.”
Alternatively any kind of Mercurial invocation or mantra will suffice.
Invocation and Focus
Reflect briefly on:
Where your life requires refinement
What habits or systems need adjustment
Where clearer communication is needed
Allow insights to arise without forcing them.
Offerings to Ancestors
Place citrus or pomegranate on your altar (or at the base of a tree if outdoors).
Say:
“With gratitude to my ancestors before me,
I offer these fruits in thanks for wisdom carried through my blood and spirit.
May clarity flow between worlds.”
Alternatively, you can say anything you find appropriate both out loud or simply internally.
Leave the fruit on your altar for a few days before returning it to the earth, or leave it respectfully in nature if fully biodegradable.
Closing
Thank the Mercurial current and your ancestors.
Extinguish incense. Sit in silence for a few moments before departing.
Carry forward any insights gently and avoid impulsive action.
